{"id":95,"date":"2016-09-06T07:55:00","date_gmt":"2016-09-06T07:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost.mpc\/?p=95"},"modified":"2021-11-12T09:02:05","modified_gmt":"2021-11-12T09:02:05","slug":"strong-demand-on-idr-1-6-trilion-sale-of-multipolars-shares-in-matahari-department-store","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mpc.id\/id\/strong-demand-on-idr-1-6-trilion-sale-of-multipolars-shares-in-matahari-department-store\/","title":{"rendered":"Strong Demand on IDR 1.6 Trilion Sale of Multipolar\u2019s Shares in Matahari Department Store"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jakarta, 6 September 2016 \u2013 PT Multipolar Tbk (\u201c<strong>Multipolar<\/strong>\u201d, IDX: MLPL) has sold 87,537,500 shares in PT Matahari Department Store Tbk (\u201c<strong>MDS<\/strong>\u201d, IDX: LPPF) at a price of IDR 18,735\/share, representing 3% of total MDS shares (the \u201c<strong>Placement<\/strong>\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The strong demand for MDS shares reflected investor confidence from Asia, Europe and USA from new and existing investors in MDS and the resilient Indonesian retail market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the Placement, Multipolar\u2019s shareholding in MDS is reduced from 20.48% to 17.48%. Multipolar remains the largest shareholder and maintains its long-term commitment in MDS\u2019 business and the Indonesian retail sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The divestment was carried out to strengthen Multipolar\u2019s balance sheet and position Multipolar for good strategic investment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UBS has acted as sole bookrunner in connection to the Placement, an endorsement of its confidence in investors\u2019 demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Multipolar, a Lippo Group company, is a diversified holding company focused on the Retail and TMT (Technology, Multimedia and Telecommunications) segments. In retail, its owns 50.2% of Matahari Putra Prima (MPPA) and 17.5% of Matahari Department Store, the largest hypermarket network and the largest department store in Indonesia, respectively, as well as other retail ventures.
